Worrying about things in day to day life
I was diagnosed with a mild level of Asperger's Syndrome 10 years ago and seem to be doing a lot better in life than before. However, I still have a habbit of worrying about things and was wondering if this is very common in people with Asperger's. In my case I have been fearing about articles on the internet regarding Doomsday and 2012(End of the world)
Any help or advice on how to overcome this problem hugely appreciated |

RE: Worrying about things in day to day life
I'm very logical, but I do tend to worry a lot. If you are worried about the hearsay about 2012 / Doomsday, I would like to remind you that the end of the world was also predicted at 2000 and many times before, and it never came. This prediction is therefore also very likely to be false, after all, scientists are saying that the end of the world won't be for another 5 billion years when the sun runs out of hydrogen.

RE: Worrying about things in day to day life
Yes, Aspies tend to be worriers partly because the world is all a bit strange and you end up worrying about whether you did the right thing and if not, what was the right thing and whether you should worry whether others are thinking you did the right thing and if you aren't worried by that, should you be and...
You get the idea.. Aspies also tend to compulsive behaviour which means you can end up a compulsive worrier! My advice is to try a little self help cognitive behavioural therapy and try to distract yourself with something else when you feel the worrying coming on. |
