Help coping with teasing..... Please
My son 9 is at a good school in the local area, they seem really sympathetic about some things..... like they will ask him to go and help with the reception children if he shows signs of imminent outburst, but they seem unhelpful in other ways, mainly with regard to teasing.
My son is having a lot of difficulty coping with normal teasing at his school, he hates his nickname "Broccoli", and gets really upset when they tease his slow running at Tig. He took his concerns to the anti bullying council in school, and they really didn't take him seriously.
He has started to act up now just so that he is kept in at breaks rather than go outside and be called "Harry"-be-slow. He would rather be thought of as a liar and a swearer than go and play.
How can I help him, please.
I'm having a chat with the SENCO tomorrow, but its going to be difficult to impress upon him how seriously my son feels hurt by the tig thing. Above all I really don't want the class to be given another little lecture on "be kind to the odd kid".

Do you remember when there were only three vowels.....
It was before U and I were born

RE: Help coping with teasing..... Please
i know school can be tough we have all been there me especially it was brutal for me in school then i didnt know i had aspergers syndrome and i completely agree those petty talks with the rest of the class does NOT work or only works for like 5minutes then its back to the teasing etc. its hard to suggest what to do. do you think the school really understands your childs problems? if not maybe its a good idea while hes still young to move him to another school that does understand.

or maybe help them understand ...
